when he was in delhi college of art, manoj kumar jain decided to join a few artists for a month-long expedition to the north east of india. one of his professors suggested that he shoot a few pictures while he was there. manoj, who had no experience of photography, had to borrow money to buy a camera. he learned how to operate it during the trip and thus started his journey as a photographer. the pictures he took during the trip were so impressive that the college of art instituted a photography award and honoured manoj as the first winner. today, he is an experienced lensman who has travelled far and wide and whose repertoire covers human stories, famous portraits, conceptual still life and advertising campaigns. throughout his work, his distinct eye and unique way of storytelling shines through. manoj’s work has been exhibited in various prestigious shows and is part of numerous collections in india and abroad. he currently lives in noida, close to new delhi.
